Hovercraft

The Hovercraft has been tested and proved that it can help with Rescue work on mudflats and sandbanks, amongst rushes and in shallow water, where even inshore lifeboats cannot reach. All the trials have been successful and has now joined the RNLI fleet. The first to go on service is H 002 stationed at Morecambe.

The North Division has Two Hovercraft at present operating in the division.
